Student of the Month
Millie
My name is Millie, and I am a 17-year-old student at Cornerstone. I am a highly motivated and goal-oriented individual who takes pride in my academic progress and personal growth. Throughout my time at Cornerstone, I have remained focused on accelerating my education, successfully completing two academic credits within a single month. This accomplishment reflects my strong work ethic, discipline, and determination to stay ahead and graduate during the first semester of my senior year.
In addition to my academic achievements, I have completed my driver’s education courses and obtained certifications in CPR and AED. These certifications are important to me because they demonstrate responsibility, preparedness, and a commitment to the safety and well-being of others. I believe that being equipped with life-saving skills is not only valuable but necessary in becoming a dependable member of my community.
Professionally, I serve as an apprentice at Lutheran Family Child Services under a three-year contract. In my role as a Behavioral Educational Specialist, I work closely with younger youth to help them better understand their emotions, develop self-awareness, and learn effective self-regulation strategies. This position is deeply meaningful to me, as it allows me to positively impact the lives of others while strengthening my leadership, communication, and mentorship skills. Supporting youth in their emotional and personal development has shaped my passion for working in the helping professions.
I have faced and overcome significant personal challenges that have strengthened my resilience and faith. Experiences that once tested me have ultimately become steppingstones toward growth, accountability, and maturity. I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given to move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and direction.
Looking ahead, my long-term goal is to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant. I plan to first earn a bachelor’s degree in a science-related field, followed by completing a Master’s degree in cardiology Physician Assistant Studies through an accredited program. I am committed to academic excellence and continuous self-improvement as I prepare for a career in the medical field, where I can continue serving and supporting others.
I am determined, focused, and confident in my ability to achieve the goals I have set for myself. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my journey.
